Hefei to Build an “Angry Bird” Theme Park Which Will Open in 2016

    On November 13, Finnish game developer Rovio announced in Wednesday that it is planning to build 9 “Angry Bird” theme parks in China in the coming four years. On 14th day of the same month, reporters known from the Anhui Goocoo Investment Group that the group has already signed agreements with Rovio to become the first comprehensive strategic cooperation partner of “Angry Birds” in China and to acquire the agency of the theme parks within the territory of China. The first “Angry Bird” theme park will be built in the Goocoo Plaza in Sanlian, Hefei and is expected to be opened before January 1, 2016.

Two Theme Parks Already Finalized
    During the interview, Yuan Qisheng, President of Anhui Goocoo Investment Group expressed that Goocoo Group has been authorized with the agency of “Angry Birds” theme parks built by Rovio in China. Rovio will be responsible for design, brand, production and other works; required equipment will be totally imported by Goocoo Group from Rovio, and the “Animation Department” under the group will dispatch personnel to be responsible for the management and operation of the theme parks.
　　“Two theme parks have already been finalized and the first one will be built in the Goocoo Plaza with the initial construction area of 3,000 m2” said by Yuan. According to plan, construction of this theme park will be commenced in 2015, completed in the National Day of 2015 and opened before January 1, 2016.
　　Another theme park will be built near the Shaoquan Lake in Xinzhan District and will consist of indoor and outdoor sectors with the area of 300 mu and 400 mu respectively. Cultural tourism project in the theme of Angry Birds will be developed and trading of derivatives i.e. games, entertainment, catering, etc. will also be deeply dug. Its expected investment is RMB 2 billion; besides, it will start construction in May 2015 and enter operation 3 years later.

Original Angry Birds Can be Experienced in Hefei
　　In last September, the “Angry Birds” theme park in Haining, Zhejiang Province was opened. The theme park, covering the area of over 10,000 m2, will include several large bird-element games such as Birds’ Castle, SUTU Interactive Square, Parkour Zone, etc. There are also some Angry Birds touch-screen game devices in the park.
　　Two theme parks in Hefei are “copied” and innovated versions of the theme parks in Finland, in which citizens can experience original theme characteristics without travelling abroad. In addition, the derivative industries brought about by the theme parks such as entertainment, catering, etc. can also create more job opportunities. “After completion and operation, the theme parks can attract about 5-6 million tourists every year and can generate the annual taxes amounting to RMB 0.2-0.3 billion if derivative industries are included,” said Yuan.
As revealed by Yuan, another 7 theme parks in China will also be invested and constructed by Anhui Goocoo Investment Group without entrusting any third parties. The sites will first be screened by Goocoo Group and submitted to Rovio for approval.
